Art has always been a part of Joseph Hart’s reality.
Ever since Joseph was a young child, he’s been involved in art, creating portraits of family members or dabbling in graffiti. As he grew older, he began looking at various artists and taught himself the techniques of impressionism, realism and other aesthetics. As he matured, he realized that he needed to learn the history of art and has taught himself things that made his art work great. Learning the history, he became more passionate about his craft and reached a higher level of creativity. Then he started selling his pencil and charcoal sketches, all the while he was working a full time job.
At the urging of friends and family, Joseph got into doing fine art, committing his works to canvas. At first, he didn’t think that his work was worth selling, calling his painting just a hobby. But when a friend of his took a painting that he was about to toss out and showed it to some people, Joseph’s phone began ringing because people wanted to see more of his work. Still not overly confident that his work would sell, Joseph took a painting to The Sphinx Paw Art Gallery and Gift Shop in Columbia, South Carolina. It sold within a month. When the first painting sold, he took two more pieces of his work back to the Gallery.
Now he was ready to take his art even more seriously. He hit the library and studied the differences in types of paints and techniques. As he began selling more of his paintings, Joseph found himself staying home more, painting more, studying more and seeing what everyone else saw in his work. It was when he finished the painting “Guitar Man,” Joseph felt like it was time for him to show his work. He was proud of what he had done.
It didn’t take long for people to come to Joseph and commission him for paintings, logos, murals and other illustrations. Then he put his knowledge and talent to use and began concentrating on his art full time.
